With the Steam Fix you can now play Gothic I in modern systems as the fix contains all the files you need to do so. PS: This program is not mine and all credit should go to its creators. If this upload violates any copyright thing just let me know to take it down. So the story goes that I bought the Gothic franchise from steam and I could not play it so I decided to check the community for solutions to the problem. I found a lot of guides and other links that provided the patches that were needed until I fell upon this little thing that provided everything I downloaded and so I unistalled everything and installed only this. Also I want to help everyone who has the game but can not play it with steam.

Thank you. I've been trying for days (maybe a week) to get the game to run and my PC won't download the patches need to run it. until now. Turns out Windows doesn't like old patch files
Yes...it is very difficult to run the games using the patches cause you got to download and install a huge amout of stuff and you need to do so in a correct pattern if you like copy, pasting, renaming files etc. Not to mention that you can "destroy" your game if you don't know how these stuff work. So all credits and many thanks go to the creators of the steam fixes they have really helped.

If you are mentioning the game itself then yes... without the Steam Fix The game can't launch as it is.
Now if you are reffering to the Steam Fix not working I guess it must have to because it is an older version but I don't think you will have a problem with thing itself as the Gothic games (Gothic I and II) have not been updated from Steam as far as I know.
