I would have to respectfully disagree. The aircraft was unpopular with British and American pilots due to poor performance at higher altitudes. This made it unsuitable for its intended role as an interceptor, and it was quickly relegated to other duties.
The Soviets liked the plane however, since most aerial combat on the Eastern Front took place under 10,000 feet. The 37-mm cannon in the nose also made it an effective weapon for strafing runs against light vehicles.
Regardless of its performance, it's certainly a nice looking aircraft.
The Bell p-39 the best plane ever made....well in my opinion
