Silence is golden, the proverb says. Not in our industry. The longer the developer keeps silent the more the fans think the project is dead. Not in our case. We’re all working on the next update, but it isn’t ready yet. But we do have some news.
Everyone probably heard about what’s happening in Ukraine. And it happens to be that part of Alersteam is located there, while the other part is in Russia. We’re all worried about what’s happening and affects our work. Unfortunately new developments ain’t better than the ones that came before, but we’re hopeful the situation will resolve itself soon. But whatever happens we are committed to our dream, our pre-orderers, and our community, and the game is being worked on.
Let’s talk about our new Main Hero. At the moment of writing, he’s almost fully integrated into the game. The issue is that there are a lot of animations, and not all of them are ready. This is actually the main obstacle, we can’t release an update until our MC has the required basic set of animations so the player can get the full emotional feedback from controlling the character.
Besides updating the look and animations of Main Hero we also implemented one of the requested features. Jack’s head and arms now position themselves according to where the player is aiming. So when you aim up or down, MH actually looks and aims up or down. This small detail unexpectedly managed to noticeably increase the interactive feel of the game. We also added aim zooming, which was planned some time ago but wasn’t a priority.
In future posts I’ll highlight more improvements in other aspects of the game.
We’ll be glad to receive your feedback and answer any questions!
Thanks a lot for your interest and support!
Thanks for the update fella's
Cowboys in space... that is pretty damn badass.
Love the style and setting. Haven't played a decent sci-fi western game since Gunman: Chronicles. Really looking forward to this one.
Yeah, Gunman was a really cool game, I played it when I was a school boy, and it was a golden time =)
Here's hoping the hostilities in your area can be wrapped up without too much more trouble.
As far as the animations, the only problem I have based on the still screenshots is the way he holds the pistol. It looks limp, and he's not really aiming it, since he can't really look down the sites from there. If he's gonna hold the pistol one-handed, he needs to hold it a bit higher so he can look down the sights, and have kind of a sideways stance, as dueling cowboys tended to use, to increase their aim and also make themselves a smaller target for enemy bullets.
Kind of like this:

Otherwise, though, I like how he rests the shotgun on his shoulder. That's a nice touch.
Thanks Morgannin09, I hope hostilities will stop in near future (
As for the gun, you are absolutely right!
I felt it is not very natural but didn't understand what was wrong, but you helped me to see it!
We should change the pose with the revolver when hero is staying and aiming, we'll make these changes among other ones.
Thanks for the feedback!
fingers crossed
Nice work, guys. When will we see you on Steam EA?
Can't tell you exact date, I can say only that we have roadmap with features that we should complete before EA.
As soon as we finish it, we move to Steam EA
