Evochron Mercenary is the sequel to Evochron Legends and rounds out a trilogy in the series culminating in the game with the highest level of technology and most extensive feature set. It is a first person 3D space combat, trader, and exploration simulation with a primary focus on 'lone-wolf' survival gameplay.

Something about the capital ships just looks bland...they lack any real highlight, judging by the screemshots. Maybe it's much more impressive to fly your ship around one in game, but compared to the bruisers of Freespace and X these are not really that impressive...I think it will grow on me though.
Capital ships probably wouldn't look too pretty in actuality, there's no need for any aerodynamics as they won't be going in-atmosphere and squared-off designs are much easier to build, so more likely.
