Empire in the Sky is an independently developed PC video game set in a stylized 1960s-1980s retro cartoon universe with blatant and extensive references to NASA and other "Space Race" icons. Much of the data is modeled after real life, so you might even learn something! This is the "lava lamp" of space RPG shooters! Travel the cosmos in a fully customizable spacecraft -- designed by you (or us). Fight or befriend scores of alien civilizations in your quest to rule the cosmos, while exploring a rich, procedurally generated world that includes planets, planetary bases, towns, cities and starbases. Build a nearly limitless and vast empire that stretches across hundreds of star systems, on thousands of planets! Empire in the Sky optionally lets you build your own starbases and planetary bases, and enhance your designs by crafting individual spacecraft parts.

While this is not the first actual "dev diary" entry, it is the first one on Desura! We took our old one offline, so this is the only one kids! It may not be daily, but we'll keep you posted here. Thanks for caring about our game!

What happened today, Thursday June 7th, 2012

- Added options for decreasing performance issues on slower machines: The game runs much faster and doing this revived some of our old solutions for various effects. You can now toggle quality settings for particles, asteroids (quality + density), background effects.
- Fixed "gui slider" issues: Added some new slider types that will enable us to pump out GUI faster. In the process of doing this we fixed up the volume controls inside the game options.
- Added "Quit&Save" button! Yay, no more hacky "trapdoor" exit.

What happened yesterday, Wednesday June 6th, 2012

- Added "pitching" (also known as "banking') to alien space ships AI
- Created an "uber AI" class for alien ships
- Replaced long-form videos with short-form videos on Desura
- Met with prospective partner Brian Isbell
