The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

In order to avoid cluttering the pinned modding tools thread, this thread should be used to discuss other tools that it would be useful to add to the pinned thread.

I know there are more tools such as mod analyzers, Elmokki's unit gen utility and other stuff, but I have no idea of what is up to date these days and what is obsolete. So any suggestions and discussion are more than welcome.

UnitGen is up to date and unless CBM or Dominions 3 itself changes substantially it should be completely functional. I may or may not rewrite it at some point, but regardless, the last release from August is just fine.

I also wrote a long edit to the above post about IdUpdater, but Desura decided that I cannot edit my post and lost all of it.

Anyway, the way Dominions 3 handles maps makes editing existing maps painful. If you add or remove a province all the province ids will shift messing up every single neighbour and terrain definition. What IdUpdater does is compare the map file before and after edits and analyze the old .map file. After that it will use the data to generate a new .map file where all you need to do is handle neighbour connections in the area where you removed or added provinces from/to and terrain to the new province if you added one. Basically it's pretty awesome - even though it's me saying it - if you want to edit existing maps or if you make maps and like me tend to either add extra province dots or forget some and notice it only after placing most of the neighbour connections and terrain.

I cannot link the original thread since I just registered my account, but it's at dom3mods. There's also a tutorial with pictures for it linked there.

There should be a topic about the Conceptual Balance Mod :)

Well hopefully llamabeast will drop by at some point to create a thread about CBM. (and the other mod caretakers about their respective mods. NjinjaDebugger and AwesomeMods, TheDemon and DomEnhanced etc etc.)
