~7p Plague Planet~
The Plague Planet is a world where disease is the norm and miasmic clouds bring contagion and death. Its diseased inhabitants pray to Nurgle for relief from their constant agony. Some of them are favored and become his Champions, and then fight among themselves for mastery and the chance to become Daemon Princes themselves. Mortarion has shaped the planet much as his homeworld, Barbarus. Its citizens cower in tiny villages, serving their supreme masters who reside in mighty fortress citadels far above all of them. There are creatures that should be dead and are diseased far beyond reckoning walking the planet. All is ruled by the skeletal Mortarion, enthroned upon the highest part of the planet, much like his false father was on Barbarus.
Info:
Just like the fluff says The Plague Planet is the home world of the Death Guard and their Primarch Mortarion. I've wanted to do this one for a long time now and I really couldn't help but go overboard on the details. I mean, it is THE Death Guard home world.
Plague Planet is a 7p 1024x1024 multiplayer skirmish map with a bit of an advantage for Player 1 in that the player starting in Mortarion's palace starts off with a Chaos Temple, Chaos Armory, Sacrificial Circle, Machine Pit, Daemon Pit, 7 Cultists posted up on one of the five relics with a slave on-hand so you don't have to slog one from home (basically you start off with a relic), 2 Oblits in the throne to represent the Death Shroud and of course the whole palace is lined in turrets both bolter & missile. Trust me, it doesn't make it easy as you still have 6 other players to worry about.
The rest of the map has various delights from the Garden of Nurgle like a dead forest, a jungle canyon, a forest of crucified corpses I like to call the Charnel Fields (kinda to represent the area in front of the palace carpeted in the corpses of those who failed to storm the gates), a lake of Horrors, various "mountains" of guts & nasty Nurgly looking things using some custom decals I made. Really wanted to give the appearance of mountains of sorrow & oceans of despair. And last but not least, one of the relics is sitting behind an Eldar Farseer in a cage attop a spire next to a giant cauldron of vile Nurgle ROT to represent the captive Isha who is lovingly force-fed batch after batch of Grandfather Nurgle's latest concoction!
I've tested it multiple times & the only problem I've run into occasionally is the entire game crashes with an out of memory error, but that could have something to do with the fact that I'm still running an AMD DC Athalon & 3G of RAM on a 1G graphics card. You young'ns with yur fancy octocores should have no problems. And I should also note that it usually crashes when I have things like 2 Helldrakes and a Reaver fighting a Necron Pylon or two so it's when under heavy stress. I believe other than my Nurgle decals all other decals are standard DC & SS decals, but they are included as well just in case.
Installation:
Extract the DXP2 folder into your root Dawn of War - Soustorm directory.
Happy Holidays from Grandpappy Nurgle!
