Description

Chama is an upcoming edutainment videogame focused on puzzle action gameplay. We follow the journey of a fox who is a journalist tasked to do a field report about the big fire spread that occurred in the village of Mação. To complete these steps our little fox must ask and take notes on those who were present with these fires.

History

The concept of Chama started out with a casual conversation about forest fires, when suddenly a member of our team mentioned on how their hometown, Mação, had been a target of one big fire catastrophe.

With this idea in mind, S.T. Studios decided to visit the affected village.

Mação is a region where the fire had spread across its own town and into the adjacent villages, devastating houses, trees and all that came through it. Both wildlife and people were negatively affected by the fire consuming everything. By talking to the residents we’ve gotten a better understanding of the situation and what they’ve been through. Some of the cases are direct inspiration and ideas for the game.

Since Chama is an edutainment game that wants to raise awareness about these occurring problems, we’ve looked for a more appealing style. References came to a conclusion that Anthropomorphic Characters would suit the game’s art, demonstrating both the villagers and animals affected. Some of those ideas come directly from references like "Zootopia" (Byron Howard, 2016), "The secret life of pets" (Chris Renaud, 2016), "Bucky o'Hare" (Neal Adams, 1984), "Beastars" (Paru Itagaki, 2016) and "Animal Crossing" (Nintendo, 2001).

Our Team’s main goal is to raise awareness about these worrying forest fires that keep sprouting annually. We hope to reach out with this edutainment videogame.
