Do you have any plans for an Internal screen shot of the current build?

What will your monsters/animals look like? Will they be totally alien or a little bit of earth's animals?

Will there ever be a multiplayer after single player is released?

Will there be a beta and Beta testers?

Will the game cost money?

Lastly How are you? :)

Thanks for reading, i cant wait 4 Boundless ;)!
Keep up the brilliant work!

1) Not entirely sure what you mean, define "Internal screen shot"
2) We want to make them as different from earth's animals, but without going into cliché alien animals. We'll try to have as varied creatures as possible such as animals that grow like trees until they mature, or carniverous plants that wake up every morning and walk over to the mountains to gather rocks, and then go hide in the shadows and shoot the rocks at unsuspecting bypassers with their mouths. We have a lot of ideas for animals and other creatures, but they're not included in this month's production backlog :)
3) Our entire development team loves multiplayer games, but from a production-plan point of view, we can finish a singleplayer version much, much faster than if the game was in multiplayer. If Boundless becomes a success when it's released and if our programmers feel it's doable, we might add multiplayer support. However, multiplayer would take away a lot of the mystery and vulnerability that we want the player to feel.
4) Of course! We will try and get a playable version out to the public as soon as possible.
5) To be honest we are not sure. We are doing this because we wanted to make the game of our dreams, and not because we wanted to make money. However, if we do release a final and complete version of the game, it would be pretty cool to sell it like a real game.
6) Actually we partied pretty hard last night and my entire body hurts right now. Especially my back. But I just finished some leveldesign and now I'm writing another article for Boundless so spirits are high!

Along with the Multiplayer thing; Are there any thoughts of making the game co-op? That isn't quite as hard as massive multiplayer but would allow me to try to survive with a friend or two.

If we are going to make the game Multiplayer, it's going to be co-op. Doing (good) multiplayer takes atleast twice or trice the time. So first we are going to do it singleplayer and see if it's even fun ;)

What happens at death? Does the map reset and we lose everything? Or do we just respawn somewhere new?

Aug 13 2012 Anchor

If you guys do want money for this game which I would because it sounds like the sort of game that people would love (just look at Day Z people me included just got ARMA 2 for the mod alone!) will the beta testers have to pay for the game first or will then be some sort of sign up period?

We haven't decided exactly what happens at death, but there will be harsh punishment.

Regarding cash... We don't know! We are doing this cause we want to play the game for now. Then we'll see later on how we do with the monies. We want to see how the game unfolds a bit more before we decides how we'll handle distribution.

What game engine are you making this in, or are you making your own?

We are using the UDK, as that's what we are using in our Day to Day job. So we are quite comfortable in there =)

Same as everyone else in the thread, I has questions :D
1) I keep seeing references no natives and civilizations. How is it going to be survival if there is a colony of intelligent life 300 feet away?
2) I can tell that this game will b challenging and fun, and sometimes fun can be being as crazy and stupid as possible like eating everything in sight. It brings up the question "what CANT i eat?" cause those giant mushrooms look tasty and filling.
3) would it be ok if I post what info is out there and links to the page on other websites like Facebook? It seems like an amazing game and I know of many who will enjoy it! :)
4) can I has cheese burger?
5) last one for now, how will the time scale work? Some games you walk 300 feet and an entire day has passed, but on a more realistic scale it would be rather boring and inefficient to be stuck on a mountain for 8 hours because an animal hunts at the base during that time of day.

1) Intelligent life will be something we implement very, very late in the game. It's very animation-intense and we currently only have one artist that does all the graphics for Boundless. Ideally the intelligent life-forms should be very hard to reach. They might live high up in the mountains or even in the sky, meaning that it will be very, very hard to make first contact with them. Even if you do, they'll probably see the player as a some form of savage forest-person unworthy of their attention. :)

2) Since you don't know what you can eat or not, ideally you should be able to eat, or at least taste every single item in the game (or at least those that fit into your mouth). Yes, this means you can eat spearheads and rocks, and you might have to do that in the beginning to learn the difference between what is edible and what is not. There will be no item descriptions or classifications, and there will be many different uses for the same item.

3) Absolutely! Telling your friends about Boundless would help us a lot, as more fans both make us work harder and provide very valuable feedback. I will create a Facebook-page soon, once we release our first gameplay video.

4) You can always has cheeseburger.

5) From my point of view we can solve this in several ways. Either we speed up our days like in Minecraft or Terraria, or we follow a 24 hour cycle like in real life. However, we're not even sure that Boundless has 24-hour days (maybe 32 hour days instead? Or maybe there's winter every 5'th day?) so here we're open for suggestions :)

This is just my personal opinion, but I would say keep the time cycle fairly long. Personally, I don't like it when a game has a time cycle that take 20 minutes for it to turn from morning to night. I understand why they make it like that, but seeing as Boundless seems to be aiming for a bit more realistic/hardcore feel, I'd say maybe at least have it take an hour or 2 to change. I mean, in that time we'll probably still just be traversing the world so we won't exactly be sitting around and just waiting for it to change from night to day, if that makes sense.

With a 1-2 hour day cycle, I know that it will be hard to deal with an equal duration night cycle especially with specifically nocturnal hunters, and if the player doesn't have a transportable light source. I think to do that there would definitely be a sleep option that wouldn't be to harsh on the newer players (or have the starting area kinder to newer players so they can deal with the night.

That's something we need to try to figure out what a nice number is. I the fun part about boundless is that you get tired, so you probably want to sleep during the nights ;)

Edited by: mackyman

Aug 21 2012 Anchor

why not make it safer to sleep in day and hunt/gather at night?

Aug 22 2012 Anchor

what about nocturnal hunters?

Aug 22 2012 Anchor

maybe day is more active for hunting in this plant or that the bigger creatures are more active in the day than in night and only a few smaller creatures have evolved to hunt at night

I imagine first person, seeing as they are looking for realism.
