Any way to fix leaderboards? Thread - Boson X

Obviously there is a hacker. I know you said previously that security was minimal if existent at all, but how hard would it be to make it better?

Making a completely secure leaderboard system is very hard. Even Apple can't get it right (just look at the Game Center leaderboards for any popular game).
Another problem is the harder you make the leaderboards to hack the more appealing it becomes to hackers, so you might do a lot of work for no gain.
I'd also like to avoid requiring users to log with a password or to link it with their facebook or whatever. I find such systems obnoxious.
I could delete those obviously cheating high scores, but that might just encourage hackers to post scores that look more plausible - at least it's currently obvious which scores are hackers.
Lastly I'd much rather be working on other things than trying to secure the leaderboards (for example ports to new platforms or new levels).

So I think for now we'll just leave it as it is. I understand that this might be frustrating, and I'm sorry about that, but ultimately my resources are quite limited. I hope you understand.

I changed my mind and deleted the obviously cheating scores.
