The game is very catholic in its religious themes of guilt, sin, penance and redemption. Though there is a lot of incredibly gory violence on display, I never felt any disrespect to any religion at all, and no specific icons of any religion are mentioned directly (though the iconography is very similar to images of saints and sinners associated to the catholic Dark Ages).
Besides, the pixel art is absolutely gorgeous, the mechanics work well and the music is good. And I found the game challenging, but less difficult then other metroidvanias I played, which is a plus in my book.
