This week we made a bunch of tweaks to the economic and diplomatic balance of the game. We added a new diplomacy option (Trade Treaties) that should give you another tool for building reputation with AI cities. We also added our first new Tekla ship which should mix things up when deciding how to build your fleet. Stay tuned for a new Exeter ship next week as well as new diplomatic actions!

New Features

  • Tekla Corporation level 3 building upgrade.
  • New Guardian support ship that restores shields for nearby allies. Requires Tekla Corporation 3.
  • Trade Treaties – if you are friendly with a city you can set up a trade treaty in the diplomacy menu for an income bonus and increased reputation with that city.
  • AI border opinion modifiers – AI cities get a “border tension” modifier when you control sectors near their territory, and they get an additional “we desire your outposts” modifier when they run out of room to expand.

Improvements

  • AI cities below size 50 will no longer force you to accept their surrender, which should make it easier to destroy small cities.
  • You can now right-click on ships in the fleet management screen to move them from reserve to active and vice versa.
  • Confirmation dialog box before overwriting profiles and save games with the same name.
  • Re-balanced the income penalties for having negative population, power, or hangar space. Instead of reducing income, it now increases maintenance and scales better for large cities – you will no longer tank your economy for having -1 population in a large city.
  • Destroyed pirate bases have way more resources to salvage.
  • Reduced the frequency of AI city peace offers so they don’t spam you as often.
  • Control Center information panel now show build radius.
  • Increased the number of resources bought/sold by 33% during market scarcity/surplus events.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that could corrupt save games when leaving a multiplayer game and starting a single player game.
  • Fixed a bug where you could not salvage level 4 population centers.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Commodity Market screen to prevent you from clicking to add buildings to your city.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the Antimatter Beam to do less damage than intended.
  • Fixed a bug that caused information panels to sometimes appear off-screen for ships.
