Adrift is a tower defense/dual-stick shooter hybrid, where players select a ship from one of three classes and team up to defend their colony from all manner of hazards that emerge from the depths of space.

This week, we introduce the "Artillery Czar", a new boss in Adrift!

Posted by RileytheBrown on Nov 1st, 2013

What’s that? Your impenetrable defense got obliterated by giant artillery shells that just came out of nowhere? Well, you might have just run into the new boss in Adrift, “The Artillery Czar.”

This boss differs from others because it avoids an all out assault on your base, instead preferring to stay at a distance and lob huge munitions towards your base. Since it spawns with a wave of enemies, it’ll probably be too late before you realize that the huge red dot circling the edge of your minimap isn't an asteroid.
In order to beat the “Czar” you’ll need to work together, with some people focusing on bringing down the bullets before they reach your base and the others trying to destroy the infernal machine before it does too much damage. The shells will smash through any turrets in their way and explode on your base, dealing massive damage to both it’s health and population. Don’t worry though, once the “Czar’s” escort is taken care of, it’s pretty simple to banish it into the void since the only weapon at its disposal is that massive artillery piece, and it isn't exactly made for defense.

A quick team will be able to take care of an “Artillery Czar” before the population takes too much of a hit, but be careful this is a sneaky one. Usually the first sign of it’s presence will be a shell impact, whether it be on a player or the base. The second you notice that this thing is there, find it and KILL IT, otherwise you’ll be playing the game with much less population than you wanted.

Stay tuned to Adrift for many more boss updates in the weeks to come!
