After a long while I'm finally getting ready to post my game here. Looking at the "add a game" page I noticed that there are two RTS'. There's the real time strategy, and real time shooter. I'm just wondering if I can get a quick clarification on the difference between them. Thanks, and I hope I'm posting in the right sub-forum.

Both "Real Time Strategy" and "Real Time Shooter" are subcategories under "Strategy". That means they both apply to strategy games, and both are also real time games in which you play continuously. Classic "Real Time Strategy" games are StarCraft and Age of Empires. A "Real Time Shooter" is just a real time strategy game which focuses upon projectile combat. A "Real Time Strategy" game has a number of strategic elements that don't involve shooting.

For example, a StarCraft-like game which had no resource gathering would still be a strategy game, but all the strategy would be around combat and shooting, so would probably be best classified as "Real Time Shooter". However, an election strategy game in which you try to raise funds while maintaining endorsements and poll ratings, would definitely be "Real Time Strategy" because there's no violent combat at all.

Ah! I understand. Thank you very much for the clarification.
