Vietnam Based HL2 Mod Thread

Hi everyone.

My friend came up with an excellent idea for a multiplayer mod. Based on the vietnamise war, there will be jungle and urban maps, attack / defend situations etc. We have :- Webdesigner, Leader, Mapper (me ) and a coder. What we need now is a Modeler/Coder to skin the models, guns etc. We really need your help, if we don't get any volunteers, this mod wll just die out and join the pile, and we don't want that to happen, so PLEASE help us! I'm the leader of the mod btw. We're no longer looking for just weapon modellers, we found two, but more can always help. What we need are animators and player modellers. For anyone who thinks this idea isn't original, you're mostly correct, but we aren't going for originality. We want to create a game that makes up for the suckiness of all the current Vietnam-era FPS games. Think about it... are any of them actually good? We're looking to make a game that mixes realism and arcade gameplay... you won't see any Iron Sights, but you might be near a mine and take shrapnel to the leg, being forced to limp until you next respawn. You might start bleeding and need to find a medic before it gets too serious. Your buddy might have to drag you back to a safe zone if you lose the ability to walk (yeah dont hit them mines). We want to demonstrate the fact that war is hell, while keeping the gameplay fun and simple and providing a fun war simulation for gamers. A lot of people don't know much about the Vietnam war, obviously we can't educate in any detail, but we hope to be able to shed some light onto the brutality of the conflict, on both sides. This game is still in the design doc phase, but we have a pretty good idea of where it's going.
