Trouble in The Thing Town Thread

So I'm sure a good amount of you have played or at least heard about the source mod Trouble in Terrorist Town. If not, look it up real quick and come running on back. Anyways.
What if, instead of people being randomly chosen as terrorists, one person was chosen to be... THE THING? As in, the shapeshifting disgusting alien of death from the 1982 movie.
This person would have to be discreet and assimilate other players (preferably in an exceedingly horrific fashion) and then those players would become part of the Thing consciousness and so on and so forth. The match would end when the Thing has become everyone or when the humans have exterminated the Thing(s). Every player would be armed with a flamethrower and maybe some flares, because fire is the only thing that hurts the Thing. Also, Thing-checking (like spychecking) wouldn't work because you can kill your human comrades as well.
It could be a source mod to make things a little simpler, or not, I don't know. I admittedly don't have any experience in creating mods or doing anything of the sort, mainly because I'm woefully technologically incompetent when it comes to that stuff. However, I thought I'd throw this idea out there in the vain hope that my dream is realized and a Thing game could be made. God that would be awesome.

What would stop it turning into a flame-thrower death match with one person without a flame-thrower?
