The Sims 2 - Where to begin Thread

Hi there

I'll be honest, I'm lost and haven't even started. I was considering the possibility of creating a Ranma 1/2 mod for the Sim 2, alas right of the bat, I ran into issues that i couldn't get the hair to happen, not to mention clothes or having any idea of how to make the whole conversion to girl/pig/cat/panda happen.

Is there any good guide on how to make anything that requires this sort of depth (and i don't think it is truely THAT deep), for the Sims 2?

any help would be appreciated. (Granted i'll probably find i don't have the time anyway).
