Ah yeah, the Golden Ratio. I've always been interested in the Fibonacci sequence, it's so elegant. That it is probably the mathmatical expression of beauty itself is even better.

What I find funny is that iirc Fibbonacci invented the sequence as a solution to the breeding rabbits puzzle; "If you start with 2 rabbits, one male and one female, how many will you have after a certain number of generations.". Fibonacci reasoned that if you add together the last two numbers in the sequence, you'll get the next one. He accidently stumbled on one the mathematical rules of nature while thinking about rabbits humping.

I just started thinking about it after I started to read the Da Vinci Code.

good old (1+sqrt(5))/2

never seen it be called divine before tho lol.

the golden ratio is also the ratio of the lengths of A4 (etc) paper.

A very amazing ratio. I suppose it takes a mathematical mind to fully appreciate it, however. Many of my aquaintances pass it off as a trivial numerical relationship, but as many have said before, it's the definition of beauty.

Well I do not think it is the definition of beauty as much as a height of it, beauty out of a divine proportion to the universe begins to become marred, and to my understanding (rarely a fan of math to say the least) it is merely a unit of measurement which entails how an object is at true potential. Just like the dimensions of the Pyramids were I believe it is "7" along the diagonals and "11" along the base, it is the most soothing of ratios.

I absolutely HATE math, but the Fibonacci series is quite possibly the best math equation I have ever seen. It's elegant in it's complexity, but beautiful in it's simplicity. Complex and simple, simultaneously.

what about e^(i.Pi)+1=0 then? about as simply elegant as you can get. (tis complex too, in the mathematical sense ;)
