Hey guys, just wanted to ask a quick question.

So after being severely disappointed by the direction Rainbow Six: Siege is going, I've been seriously considering trying to make an adversarial multiplayer tactical shooter within the vein of older tactical shooters like SWAT 4 or Rainbow Six Rogue Spear/Raven Shield.

Really my only prior game making experience are 2D games using a custom made game engine with SDL 2.0 and C/C++, so I'm new to the world of 3D game making.

I was thinking of making this a gamemode for Garry's Mod (and I wouldn't have to worry about assets), but I don't know how many people who play Garry's Mod would be interested in a traditional tactical FPS.

Another idea I had would be to make the game from scratch in Unity (I have very minimal experience with Unity and average knowledge of C#) in order to learn about Unity 5, but I'm a little worried about lack of 3D assets.

What should I do? Also, would anyone else be interested in this?

I'm very interested to get involved in anything Rainbow Six, but I'm an amateur still learning the fundamentals of 3D modeling with Blender.
I don't know how useful I'd be for you right now. My main focus was actually to learn game asset creation.

From what I've read, it looks like you really like the Unreal Engine. I've been a fan of many games created with Unreal.

I think you should definitely use the Unreal Engine. They used Unreal 2.0 for Raven Shield and 3.0 for Vegas.

Hey dreamland!

I've been interested in giving UE4 a try ever since they announced it for free. I'm also an amateur when it comes to 3D game development, lol.

Are you familiar with UE4? Have you used it for any personal projects?
