Steam likes me! Thread

I installed Steam without any problems! I've got the Team Fortress Classic Cache, and Steam is installing Counter Strike of its own free will. After Counter Strike has finished, I'll get the Day of Defeat cache, since I just started playing last night and LOVED it!

You're doing better than the rest of the world then. Steam is still playing silly buggers with me.

Yeah.. Mine started acting up too. It was cause of the patch they released, and then recalled. After that.. I had to delete my CS cache then re-install it. It's still not working great. dunno if it's server strain or what, but either way I'm on 1.5 in the meantime.

Your stealing my godam bandwith and all I want todo is play a game of CS.

No point in me downloading 1.5 if 1.6 just finished. I'll play Steam CS for now (I'll suck, but what the hey! )

ima always keep 1.5 , i like 1.6 but i dont trust it, anything could go wrong

i doubt it, do you know how much money they make from it? it would be a BIG mistake to turn it of

Why is Steam having so many problems? I mean, the concept and functioning of the program isn't anything that hasn't been done before, what's their problem? Why can't they make it work? What problems exactly are people having?

Positive update from CSN.

First off, the Steam Network will be optimized and performance will be improved greatly soon. The Steam Network is guaranteed to perform at an optimum level for the Counter-Strike: Condition Zero rollout. New content servers and plenty of bandwidth will be added to handle the load in the next couple of weeks. Also (new): Before the release of CS:CZ, VALVe will need to test these changes to see how they hold up under lots of stress. Stay tuned for details of how you can help us test the network (and get some free stuff in the process).

Secondly, offline/LAN play is nearing completion. This means that you will be able to play any Steam game while not connected to the Internet. It will only be necessary for you to be connected to let Steam download content.

Thirdly, about 50% of the community has migrated to using Steam as the way to play Steam games. The WON authentication system won't go away until Steam is ready for the entire user base. There isn't an exact date at this time.

Forthly, the banning system that bans duplicate or bad CD-Keys has now caught up. For a while, it was behind. Cheaters in CS are dissappearing more and more everyday.

And last but not least, VALVe is getting ready to ship out CS:CZ and make the game available through Steam. The in-store date and the Steam release date will be the same day. Watch your Steam Games Menu for details.

I get lower FPS in 1.6 too. They really need to optimize this stuff. It's gettign worse day after day. I was happy with it for a while, then it just started going to all hell.

i have new steam problems again, now, if i join a server i crashes to the desktop after a few seconds !!!

Hmm... I try out Steam when Half-Life 2 cames out, so basically NEVER.

heh, try it now, cs1.6 is ok, and its a nice tool , even if it eats resources i think

i hope they use Steam version 5473.9 for HL2 else it will still suck
