Hey, everyone.

I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with Star Wars Galaxies. Whether you are or you aren't, here's just a brief history of what happened with it.

So, Star Wars Galaxies was an MMO released in 2003. It was ridiculously awesome and ahead of its time. One of the main things that its players loved was the time period it was set in (between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, so the rise of the Empire). Because of this, becoming a Jedi was difficult and rare. I won't go too much into the details, but basically Sony Online Entertainment eventually implemented two things: "CU" (Combat Upgrade) and NGE (New Game Enhancements). Although CU and NGE gave it better graphics and overall better look UI wise, Sony also changed the structure of the game - and all of a sudden, anyone could be a Jedi from the get-go! They also introduced levelling systems rather than skill tree's, yadayadayada.

Anyways, now that's out the way - to my point. SWGEmu (Star Wars Galaxies Emulator) came along. They decided to bring back the old game which SOE shut down due to backlash, and SOE actually admitted to losing all the server-side code. So, SWGEmu has spent years developing 100% their own server-side code. And within the past year, they've reached 90% completion, with private servers popping up. Some of these private servers use their own mods.

So, my question is, what would be the proper way to register Star Wars Galaxies as a game on MODDB? Registering the original game doesn't make sense, because that shut down. It doesn't exist anymore. The game that people are playing right now is/was created by SWGEmu... so would registering SWGEmu be correct? Or would you guys consider SWGEmu a mod of the original game?

I'm unsure, so I thought I'd ask the experts. So guys?

Cheers, Elliot.
