stalingrad mod for half life :) Thread

im not experianced in doing mods so i thought i would create this topic.The eastern front of ww2 is underused by games and a mod based on it would be a stunner.I hope that someone will read this post and take my ideas on board-

*maps based on eastern front battles.
*Soviet weapons & German weapons.
*A game similar to DoD or Firearms,using capture the flag as a basis.
*Soviet & German character models.
*try and incorporate artillery that can be used to fend off enemies.

These are the only ideas i can think of at the moment.ill try and think of some more soon

That seems completely unoriginal to me, although I am somewhat jaded. DoD already covers WWII, and Call of Duty does Stalingrad (and the eastern front) better than nearly anyone else could do (and better than anyone else has done).

I would have to agree, that there are to many wwII games out there already.

is that all this forum is about?bashing peoples ideas i said that the eastern front would be the basis for the mod.DoD is based on the western front and CoD is a different game. The eastern front would make interesting levels because the fighting style was much different.

look, we don't bash ideas, we just give constructive comments. Telling someone that their mod idea is unoriginal is not bashing it, but it is telling them that they should change it to make it more original.

I'm sorry if I came across that way, it just seems to me that telling someone that their idea may not be well received is better done before they start than when they finish . . . I sorta meant it in a helpful way, not to bash you. After all, wouldn't you rather us tell you (some less politely than others) that your idea is unoriginal now or when you've poured your heart and soul into it and released it to the vicious predators on the 'net? At least now, we're mean well and are trying to save you the grief.

go for vietnam or civil war... vietnam is cool and there isnt any really awesome mods out fo hl yet on those two wars. but yeah WWII is way too unoriginal :/

Vietnam has been done a few times, but the Civil War I've never seen. That would definitely have potential for originality.

What about some about some of the smaller battles in larger wars. I can think of many events:

WWI: Barely covered, although a few HL2 mods are toying with this, I think.
WWI - Gallipoli: The Commonwealth landing at the Turkish peninsula of Gallipoli. I'd make this now if I had a hell of a lot more experience with modding
Korean War: Barely covered. Even though mostly WWII weapons were used by the UN soldiers, it would still be fun.
Vietnam - Early War: The French colonial occupation, anyone? Interesting.
Vietnam - ANZAC: Yes! That's right. The Australians in Vietnam. Hey, we pulled our share

that they did (austrailians in nam)!! how about Beruit lol or Gernada! WWI has never really been done too much... or you could go forTHERMOPALE!
