Hey everyone, have you checked out my game? It's a fleet management RTS similar to Homeworld and Nexus: TJI

At the moment i'm working on fighters:

and what will set this game off from every other RTS is that the sectors of space will be procedurally generated:

Checkout the IndieDB page and the blog for masses of information on the project.

How advanced are you? how much do you think it will take you before a release?

Well the basic principles are in, I need to make the game more interactive to the player by allowing them to specify targets to the fleet/pack elements. At the moment the ships will fire on all targets of opportunity near themselves and it can be annoying. I also need to add in things like status effects, energy management, mining, ship construction, RPG element, story mechanics, more ships and guns, ship configurator, it just goes on so we are some ways off i'm afriad.

My main constraints are time and money, the models me cost a fortune and the game is time consuming to produce. I'm going to do a Kickstarter campaign soon and then try and get it on Early Access so I can step down at work and give it the attention it really needs, if that happens 6-9 months at least else it's going to be a loooong old time. Find additional professional programmers you say? Money, find skilled voice-actors to flesh out the story? Money, add additional models that we need that I can't purchase? Money.

I've been speaking with the maker of Nexus and he mentions it cost $1 million to make. I'm not sure I'll need that much but I just can't keep throwing my own money at it, it's a black hole. I'll soon release a very early demo for people to play but subsequent releases will be tagged onto the Steam Early Access model simply because games development is damn expensive!

I'll be honest, it looks like Sins of a Solar Empire. A LOT like SoaSE.

Sins was a good game and the market isn't exactly awash with contenders but I have to say, I just don't see it.... Sins wasn't even completely 3D lol some of the concepts might be the same but there won't be a research tree and the player will have much more granular control over a smaller set of ships.

Perhaps visually a little bit but thanks! If my game can be compared to that masterpiece then I've probably hit the proverbial nail on the head. Anyways, here's a very early gameplay video...
