Hello to all that can answer this thread I greatly appreciated the advices or opinions on this thread.

My question is for game developers and programmers, How long will it take to develop an alpha test build for a shooter based game that feature multiplayer with pvp and pve setting with vehicles, basic item crafting, resource management and survival management, using Unity asset store with prefabricated 3D models and items so the developing team 3 programmers will need to focus only on coding the mechanics? All I'm asking is for an estimated timeline on how long it will possibly take.

Thank you very much for answering this thread if there is additional information needed I will be adding it as soon as possible.

There is nobody who can answer this questions from the time the factors are multiple and depend on the people that work on the Project. It really depends on how dedicated the 3 programmers will be in the team and how much time they will spend for developing the game. But from what you are saying and all the features you present it will take a long time no matter how dedicated the team is. As you say you will need Gun, Vehicles, Crafting, RPG Aspects, Multiplayer for PVP and advanced AI for PVE.

Thank you MisterGeorge for you prompt reply, I understand that developing those game mechanics will take a long time, I want to elaborate on those programmers will be working full time on the project and also this is an alpha test build not the full game and all I seeking is an estimate on how long it will be to possibly implementing these mechanics by using Unity's asset store's function of purchasing packages, so all it's left is to incorporate prefabricated mechanics and items from the store. We are buying prefabricated 3D models weapons, vehicles, advance AI scripting, and the programmer's duty is to incorporate the prefabricated items and scripts in the alpha test build.

Not sure if you have a specific deadline but if it was me and I was given all these data (3 full time programmer, prefabricated 3D models and all the mechanics you mentioned) then I would give the team 3-5 months of development for the Alpha Test depending on how ready the game idea and concept is. Which means that if I have my game concept 100% ready to go then I would say that you will need for an Alpha version 3 months so you can also be pretty relaxed. From the other hand if the idea is not 100% ready then I think that you will need around 4-5 months. Of course another important factor is the skill of the developers.
