why would you play a rhythm mod? Sure its pretty original as far as mods go, but I mean what would the point of multiplayer be? It just would not be any fun it seems like --

And we need multiplayer? Why not just code something in java ImThe DArkyde? It could a be a little project for you or something. It wouldn't be too hard to do a ddr style thing but it wouldn't be that different and theres always flash flash revoultion. Cool idea as long as the songs are good though. |

dude implement a deathmetal song into ddr and I might actually be able to play it lol that would be so awesome but you would probably break something trying to maintain the break-neck rhythm. Go for it, but you have to have a deathmetal song... dedicated to me --

If you haven't tried, there are already multiple games similar to DDR over the net, one of them being multiplayer already. DWI=Dance With Intensity (DDR style) O2 Jams (Beatmania or Keyboard Mania style) and there's another beatmania thing out there...can't remember the name. O2 Jams...I haven't played that in awhile but I think you have to pay for it now.Maybe you could check it out? As I recall, O2 Jams was by far the best "rythmn" type game on the computer to date, it's multiplayer and new songs are updated monthly (I think).Also, it's kind of neat because your account has an avatar character in which you get (points,money?) and you can customize how your character looks.You can also buy instruments and during the song, handle only that specific instrument.You could always not play an instrument too and do all of the song by hand .Try it, it's fun.Make a band online. You should try Sambe de Amigo on the Dreamcast. That is one of the best rhythm games ever made I heard it's making an appearence on the EyeToy for Playstation 2. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Dance Maniax was also pretty good...don't know if that's out for console though.It was also interesting how it worked, you used your hands instead of your feet on like, this double sided laser sensitive disk..things.You waved your hands around like an idiot, but it sure as hell was fun. -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |

so, no one wants to take inspiration from me and make a mod? i mean, its simple on paper : read a file (like a .dwi) thats just a text file with a funky extension, and read notes in a coherant manner from it, while playing an mp3 take some key input, test if your in the correct timing zoneage, consequences, repeat till end of song but.. easier said than done... (and i dont know how to do any of it) |

You don't need to have a certain files and mp3 for it, that would just make it like DWI/Stepmania in the end. The only good reason I could see for this is if you are shooting guys to the beat. |
||

I think there should be a guitar mod and make it similar to "Typing of the Dead" where you hit certain keys, and instead, musical notes come out of it and damage your enemies. That would be awesome, especially to see what kinds of combos you could deal out to take down a boss And instead of zombies or whatever, it'd be security guards, riot police, rabid fans, etc. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

well, the reading files thing and making it like dwi, is to have a larger song base rather than coding the songs into it, you could add new ones etc, thats why i prefer StepMania to FFR, more variety (and the songs are actually on beat) cmon.. 5 bucks for someone who makes this mod 5 AMERICAN bucks |

Nov 7 2004 Anchor | |
Hmm....5 dollars eh.... I don't know, I could use the cash I think it would be kind of nifty if say, it was a hand to hand game, the buttons were the moves you could do like kick,punch,etc.There would be scrolling moves that as you guys said, go with the beat.The accuracy and timing you hit the buttons deals certain amounts of damage.Let's also say that if you get a combo (like DDR when it says something like "50 combo") then the other person has to hit buttons to block.If the person attacking, however, slips up on the combo, the person can have a chance perform a counter-attack move/combo.That's the only way I can imagine making a game like DDR or something into a mod. -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |
