Hi, I'm Woody and I'm brand new to these forums. I can't wait to dig in and start checking out all of the awesome projects on here! In the meantime, I figured I might as well drop off some stuff about my project, Puzzle Hunters.

I've spent around 2,000 hours developing Puzzle Hunters, and I'm very excited to share it with the world. It's kind of a mix of Puzzle Quest, Avengers Alliance, and Mega Man. I'd say the Puzzle Quest influence is obvious enough. The Avengers Alliance influence is felt through the 3v3 tactical gameplay. And the Mega Man influence is felt through the mission design:

  • Complete first mission, hit level 2, gain credits (for new characters, consumables, and possibly permanent bonuses)
  • Complete 2nd mission, hit level 3, gain credits
  • Level 3 Boss Battle
  • Complete 3rd mission, level up, gain credits
  • Complete 4th mission, level up, gain credits
  • Level 6 Boss Battle
  • Complete 5th mission, level up, gain credits
  • Complete 6th mission, level up, gain credits
  • Level 9 Boss Battle
  • Final Boss Battle

This design allows the player to hit max level (10) just before the final boss battle. Other than the boss battles, the player is able to tackle the missions in any order they choose, just like in Mega Man. The big difference, though, is that each time the player levels up, so do all of the missions. So a mission at level 1 might play entirely differently than the same mission at level 8 because now the enemies will have access to all of their abilities and combat will be a bit more intense. This will hopefully facilitate multiple playthroughs. I'm aiming for a tablet and PC release (phone screens are just barely too small to fit all of the required information).

I won't waste anymore of your time here, but if you're curious about the project or the thought processes that went into its design, please check out www.thunderpunchstudios.com.. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing you in the forums!
