Sounds really cool Actually kind of likes a lot like Fighter Maker for the PS1 (or Fighter Maker 2 for the PS2). Sorry I can't help you, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this game. But one question, what game are you modding? -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

The coding requirment may mean it is a game built from scratch, not a mod. |

You need a coder to mod an engine if it's going to be a TC (Total Conversion). So, you got to have all your needs down. However, this sounds very much like a mod, and I don't know why he would be coming to Moddb forums if it wasn't. He probably just forgot to add that detail. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Matrix Online, anyone? Not a bad idea though. The coding would be tedious.I agree it sounds like it needs it's own engine. - Edited By CyanideCotdPnuts On Thu 26th, Aug 2004 @ 3:53:00pm -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |

Unreal Tourney 2K4 might be a good engine to use. --

This game is not Matrix Online, I can see that, because first off: 1) It's cel-shaded Everything else you can say that, but those points above stand apart. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Well, Matrix Online is the same concept of individualization and different fighting styles.Guns are just sort of...there. -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |

Then I guess you can say The Specialists is a rip-off of Matrix Online? Lol, I guess it doesn't really matter, because this guy's idea, although somewhat similar, is his own mod design, which most of the time never clones the inspirations. Good luck with the mod, ][ndy -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Thanks for all the constructive comments. At any rate, were planning on keeping things simple as possible, by modding off of an existing engine "D3" or "HL2". Im not sure of the HL2 engine specifics but I know that alot of things can be done with the exsisting technology. for example the havok physics system will only need slight tweaks in order to accomplish what we need in terms of the fight dynamics and damadge registration. The gui can be done without too much trouble but the real area where we will need alot of coding will be the server / client hybrid that were creating for registering accounts and storing player data. One step at a time =] were just looking for like minded people to help with the project untill we get it off the ground. so any coders who are interested please email me and we could havbe a paying job for you. thx again guys. |
