This is an idea I have, that I would prefer to keep my own - as I would like to start the mod myself, but only if there's enough interest - and that's why I'm posting here. If there isn't much interest, then I'll give the go-ahead for anyone else to pursue the idea. So, here's the rundown. I haven't fleshed it out entirely because I want to see the reaction to the core idea. Inspired by Road Rash, players would race motorcycles and have basic on-bike melee combat. You could choose from 1st or 3rd person views. However, the setting is not present day - it is post apocalptic. Bikes are pretty much scrap-bikes - put together from various parts. There are a few tiers of bikes with varying degrees of performance. The lower end bikes only have so much horsepower and speed, and the higher tiers of course have more. There are a couple dozen characters the player races against as well. The player may be able to use small firearms/weapons to knock others off their bike, or blow out tires or gas tanks. The characters could do the same as well. The player might be able to upgrade various areas of the bike, and also choose differerent colors (although these are kind of limited, as the bikes are grungy/rusty generally - maybe the higher end ones are fairly polished). There could be a reason for racing - perhaps the players need to earn credits (money) to survive in the post-apocalyptic world (purely for story, this wouldn't be an off-bike gameplay component). There would be multiplayer as well. I was thinking maybe the Far Cry engine would be best suited for this. -- Website: Phaitaccompli.com |

We're PA and will have motorcycles too. MadMax hogs and cyber-tech crotch-rockets. Moddable and upgradeable. PA seems to be the new zombie. Edited by: Apokalypse13 --

For 'zombie' all you need is a single zombie character... For post-apocalypse, you need to create an entire world. |

BF:A is more action oriented though, correct? My idea is purely motorycycle racing. -- Website: Phaitaccompli.com |

To an extent: we're introducing a new game mode (one of a few) called 'Capture the Tanker', which is heavily vehicle-centric, to say the least. Think of some of the Mad Max driving scenes and you'll get the idea |

I've never seen the Mad Max movies, but I understand they have a P-A setting. -- Website: Phaitaccompli.com |

Basically, our Capture-the-tanker mode is like traditional CTF (Capture the Flag), but the flag is replaced by a trailer truck. (Like the ones which haul petrol or cattle over long distances, sometimes with multiple rear trailers.) Basically, teams are required to transport this truck from base to base in order to win. To do this, players must find a vehicle, and travel alongside (like a convoy of ships around a modern carrier) the trailer truck, defending it, until it can be brought to base. You pretty much have the whole team together in vehicles travelling at high speed all in a group - creating cooperative, multiplayer action-packed vehicle gameplay that has NEVER been seen outside the movies - all in a completely atmospheric post-apocalypse environment! I really liked the UT2k4 map that was set on a moving transport. We're actually doing something similar to your Capture the Tanker as one of the types of quest missions in our MMO. Resources like water and oil and gas are huge in game value. We're integrating a hacking simulation so that you could hack into a database, find out where and when a tanker shipment is moving out and see its route - or you can learn the old fashioned way - bribe the caravan clerk. Pick the spot that you want to ambush it and boom! You've got more resources for your clan. I think what we're keying off of here is the melee-combat of RoadRash. A lot of us recently (of course for us it was 4 years ago) have realized that the post-apoc genre needs a comeback and games like RoadRash, Carwars, Carmageddon..Wasteland...are all the rage again as game ideas.
