Open-source Neverwinter Nights Engine | Locked | |

With OpenMW and Xash3D, we are essentially given new engines for old games, such as Morrowind and Half-Life, respectively. It is like having the source code. I've been thinking for awhile about what game could use the same treatment. I think dedicated programmers should make an engine to run Neverwinter Nights. Why? The game is a rpg mod makers dream. There are so many mods and modules that it is practically insane. It would be sad to see a version of Windows come out that did not support Neverwinter Nights and its tool set, but I assume that that is going to happen eventually. I would like to see the game get the open-source engine treatment, because it is such a valuable tool for modders, and they haven't released the source code. Just a thought anyway. I am just throwing that idea out there. But I suppose the open-source engine idea is something that I am in favor of, regardless of the game. It is just an idea that has been floating around in my head. Just something to think about. Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. (KJV) |
