Hello everyone,

This is my first post so I'll do a quick little intro. I'm Skid Row Trash, I've been gaming for over 2 decades, and making mods / expansions etc for the same amount of time. Everything I create has always been free for everyone to enjoy. I am self employed and have been for almost 3.5 years, and work from home in an unrelated to gaming type of work. I had started making an RPG a couple years ago but stopped at around 1/3 complete because reasons. Anyways it was made in RPG maker and was pretty cool, was going to release it for free when it was done as it was related to my real life work. Lately I've been playing video games & making dumb videos on youtube in my spare time.

Anyways, yesterday I got an idea for a sweet new game. It's the type of game I would enjoy playing, and there isn't currently anything quite like it out there. Today I got a crapload more ideas and put them all down, and from what I'm seeing so far it's looking like it would be pretty fun both to make & play. It is also the type of game that would be awesome to play on a tablet or good quality cell phone, pc or some type of mobile device. Not sure about consoles. Anyways, this time, I want to try selling the game, or monetizing it in some way. The reason I want to monetize it is because if I could raise enough money I could do something bigger scale, or even hire people possibly. :)

But here are the questions I had. Also, I am planning on using Construct 2 for this. The game would be light in the graphics dept & 2D. If rated, it would probably get rated R or 18+, although possibly 14+.

What platform should I aim to release it on?
I am a one person "dev" who does this in his spare time, so I think I should aim for one platform to start as I am doing all the work myself, lol.

How Should I Monetize or Sell?
Should I charge a one time price? If so, I was thinking about three dollars max (equal on all platforms). If I release it as HTML5 it can be played in any browser & I would pay the server / hosting fees etc, and would work on any device. I would then leave it 100% free, but have a couple non invasive ads on the game page. Could also do a paid one time membership of max 3 bucks & then available on all devices via HTML5 in browser with login etc..
I have no idea, how should a 1 person "dev team" do money stuff for their first ever release?
