Need your opinion Thread

I'm currently working on a Hockey Mod for HL2, NHL Source. I'd really like your opinion. I'll post my thoughts at the bottom.

1.Currently the name is NHL Source... but I dont think that will legally hold up . I was thinking of a couple names; Half-Life Hockey, NHL^2 (superscript 2). I guess this is more of a straight forward question. Would it be legal to call it NHLS, or NHL^2?

2.Would you rather the models be all new Hockey players, or the The models of HL2 in hockey gear.(Thus Half-Life Hockey) (Imagine the G-man decked out in pads )

Personally, I'm leaning towards HL Hockey with the HL2 models for a few reasons. I want it to be a realistic game, but I want to make it stand out (doesnt everone). It also, provides for some easy choices, like a rink (City 17 Ice Center), Recognizable teams (Black Mesa resistance Vs. Dr. Breen and the Combine Team... Im making this up as I go along ). I really just want to check and see if other people are going to glance at it and think its the dumbest thing they've ever seen.

I'll probably work it out again once I get a mod team together, just looking for a consensus.
Which brings me to my next point, I said I'd ask you 2 questions but just one more...

Do you want to work on the Mod? Please we need all the help we can get

Sounds really cool. Can you start fist fights? Or have a house rule that opponents can used armed combat attacks on the person holding the puck

Mod name: City 17 Hockey (simple and to the point)

Team Ideas:

Combine (strider as mascot)

City 17 Alliance (Headcrab as mascot)

Black Mesa (Tentacle as Mascot)

Union City (Duck as mascot)

Xen Rebels (bullpig as mascot)

I just all of a sudden got the image of a five headcrab goalie team

In my mod description I kinda describe how i want fights to work. I think theyd be at random though, and pretty rare. Otherwise a few people might think theyre too fun and just start them constantly. If possible, maybe you could have an full bench fighting mode . For the controls though I was thinking you can still move around, grab with the 'q'(with left) arm and 'e'(right) keys, punch with Mouse1(left) and mouse2(right), all aimed with the mouse, and then space bar repeatedly to tackle.

Haha, my friend mentioned the same armed combat type thing. Other Ideas were 1. a puck that is so large that the only way to move it is to use team work by pushing it to the other end, while other players try to either protect you, or take the other team out. 2. Mode where you can freely swing arouond the stick to create total mayem, the player who is last standing gets a breakaway. 3. Other games on the Ice, such as tennis, dodgeball, and a broomball mode.

I really think skating is the key though. If we can get simple movements to work accordingly and animate correctly, I think the possibilities for game modes are huge. At first I'd like a realistic style game though.

And have a figure-skating xen rebel halftime show!

lol sounds funny i like it u should try to work on it , i would offer my mapping skills but im unfortuneately busy designing and making the mod Armoured Fear im the leader so im incredibly busy any who ahve fun modding good job illllll say

change the name - NHL wont like you using it like that

and NHL is the only big sport without an exclusivity contract (NBA too, but they refuse one)

Source Hockey League, maybe 20 minutes before you posted that so it should be changed shortly. Nice call though

Why "Source" Hockey League?

SHL? sounds good just change everything that says national to source

cause its on the source, we wanted to make the title like a league. work on a SHL logo is almost done.
