Need Suggestions and Opinions Thread

Okay... so I need suggestions and opinions before I start wasting my time doing hours of C++ scripting with no one playing it. I will have some help... and will take courses to further my C++ knowledge. Without further adue...

Summary
An online multiplayer platform(side-scrolling game. eg. Alien Hominid) engine of which high quality platform games could be made from.

Feature
-Up to 8 Players a game
-Play Co-op or Team vs Team
-Highly MODDABLE
-High Frame Sprite Animation
-Hitbox based damage system
-Buy Screen

I don't want to give out to much information... it will be moddable because most of the weapons coding will be done in .txt file and the program will be able to read it if you code it properly. Animation and Character will be made with 100x100 24-bit bitmap images. I've got most of the stuff planned out, now I just need some opinion on the game. Can someone also tell me if I will need a server to run online multiplayer?

My first mod for my engine is planned out to, now... I will wait for responses and prepare to start my work.

to run online multiplayer the host is the server so ultimately no, you wont need a server to run online

Was that a spam... or a true thing. Beacuse Starcraft uses Blizzard's Battlenet server and CS and HL uses Valves Content Servers to host contents and to store user information.

Its a true thing. They are both for keeping out pirates and cheats. if your going to make your own engine, there's no real need for it, only big huge games.
