Hello I am sky01454 and I am a mod leader for Lab in xen for Half life 1. I need a team. Lab in xen will be single player and aims to continue the story line that valve has started the after Freeman escaped the Gman has asked him for a new job and he took the chance. This mod continues it Freeman realised his survived sciencetist is doing the experiment again but from Xen. They fail again and Freeman makes his desperate escape. The mod features many things to make players more interested. One new feature is a new modeled character which is Riot Guard this is for players cover riot guards will carry a Assult rifle or a shot gun. I am are currently looking for Mappers and Modelers and a coder and a weapon modeler. If you like to help or join the team also for more information please go to this site Labinxen.tripod.com |

Why go for Source when you don't need it? Ever heard of an overkill? Just because Source is the big hype among many people, doesn't make it the best engine for everything, despite how much I love it. Everybody shouts nowadays that you should move to Source but often their argumentation is just "it can do more" whilst a lot of the teams don't use all that stuff Source can do. (In fact, a lot of the HL2 mods out there, could as easily have been made on HL1.) HL1 also still has the higher userbase, so the argument that more people use Source also is false.. I've just seen a few mods out there that actually use some of those new features of Source to their advantage. I'd say; don't let all this talk about Source scare you off and just stick with Half-Life 1! And then, I realised I started a mini-rant here. My apoligies. This "move to source because it's 1337!!1111" just gets to me.. |

Source is really not all that hot an engine. Other than the pretty water it's got nothing on any other modern engine, such as Doom 3, Far Cry or even the update unreal 2.5 engine used in Thief 3 and Deus Ex 2. -- Defeat in Detail 2 - Standalone RTS Game |

The mod named Office Night Watch or something (for hl1), there was 1 guy who made the whole mod( a TC maybe?). Therefor it also seems "not that extremly hard if its a team", and people have alot more experince in this engine that was released many years ago? I'm not sure if anybody in could make a TC for source by himself. |

Yep, HL is a hell of a lot easier to mod for than HL2. -- Defeat in Detail 2 - Standalone RTS Game |

It is. At least, I know mapping is tougher on the source engine =P --

I've never modded for an other engine then source, so i can't say which are easy and what aren't. I think its all about knowledge of one engine-mod-building to an other, though thats' just my opinion. |
