I have been looking for some good team members for the past moth or so and have come up quite short, so I figured a little more detail would bring me a little more luck. So here is my mod basics, enjoy:

Civil Unrest:

In 20xx China invaded the United States with the aid of Cuba, Mexico, and Canada. All four countries were thought to be loyal allies of the United States, even though China has been a communist country, along with Cuba. China came up through Key West, Florida with ease pushing up to Virginia within one week. They also entered through the borders at Arizona, New Mexico and California through Mexico, devastating the major cities in their path; Phoenix, San Diego, and L.A. The majority of China’s military entered through the northern states bordering Canada, while their navy bombarded the coasts with sea and air attacks. Within one year the United States was in shambles, much resembling that of Europe during the Second World War. Thus beginning a new world war.

The United Kingdom tried to help the United States, but their efforts proved useless and their military massacred. This left the United States to fight for themselves. With the U.S. military scarce, the civil population had to take matters into their own hands. Forming militias from coast to coast, these patriots gathered anything that could kill a man and took on “guerilla” tactics to force this titanic communist power from their once free soil.

China: After their transition from a dynasty to a communist state, China’s number one agenda was to overthrow the world’s greatest power, the United States. China decided to take a very deceitful path to accomplish their goal. Being how communist countries do not trade or have any friendly relations with non-communist countries. China was the only communist state to have these affiliations with the United States and their allies. China just needed to wait for the most opportune moment and a few more “close” countries to hop on the bandwagon.

Cuba: After Castro’s loss of power his country was dictated by a new power, a man who had the same ideals as China. The Chinese government set up this mans rise to power with a deal to assist each other in the demise of the United States. Castro’s successor brought “close” relations with the U.S. much like those of China. The U.S., blinded to by the deceptions of these countries, unknowingly funded all operations and equipment for this disaster in the making.

Mexico: China wanted to have the U.S. surrounded so they turned to propositioning to its two closest countries, Mexico and Canada. Mexico was not very difficult to bargain with. Mexico, being a poor country losing its money and population to the immigration of its citizens to the United States, saw this to be the best thing for their country and a sign of future wealth. Mexico agreed to let China station in their country and invade through their borders with the United States.

Canada: Unlike Mexico, Canada was a hard bargain. Canada had no reason to have poor feelings with the U.S. as it seems, so, China had to make them. China injected saboteurs into both countries to cause grief and tension, which was accomplished successfully with ongoing trade infringements with the U.S., which put Canada on the oust and in a very large debt, putting them to the level of a third world country desperate for a quick and promising resolution.

Goals:

-A large arsenal for both teams from melee weapons to missile launchers.

-Several vehicles for both teams including tanks, APCs, buggies, ATVs, and helicopters

-An authentic modern militia look for the militia. (noting new and nice)

-Depressing atmosphere. Meaning dark skies and destruction of landmarks.

-A ranking system much like those of a leveling system in RPGs. Ex: an infantry will rank up after X amount of kills, allowing him to chose from 2 classes available only to ranking infantrymen.

-Classes. Many classes ranging from infantry to Special Ops.

-Purchase system to allow little luxuries and to enhance the game-play.

-Skills that build. (Ex: if you are a sniper the more you snipe the better marksmanship you get and the more steady you hold your gun.)

-Special skills that are given to certain classes and transfer upon a rank up. Meaning you keep all previous skills earned.

-A campaign that is co-op not designated to 1 player at anytime, though, it can be played by one person at a time. Difficulty is based by # of players.

-Different features for different environments. (Ex: A snow map would have units with different skins and contain different vehicles for snow terrain. While a desert map would have different ones.)

I really am looking for people with experience and skills that they are willing to share.

Sounds pretty cool to me.

I personally think that the concept of an FPS with character progression is awesome, definately a feature which I would love to see..

I envision this concept's most basic application of character progression in the FPS realm to the reticle of your player's weapon (is there one?)..

Perhaps the reticle would be most representative of a basic soldier if it expanded greatly, similar to the Tom Clancy games rainbow 6: rogue spear, or ravenshield reticles.

The ret expands when you move, or shoot to symbolize the increase in inaccuracy as a result of said actions. This simple system could be added to by the progression of your character's skill set to decrease that expansion area, making a player more accurate with that weapon as a result of their characters increased capability as they progress..

Just a thought..

While your concept turns over in my mind more come to light..

What engine were you thinking of using?

That will determine your team..

This really sucks! I was going to go to this private college for a B.A. in Game Design but I am stuck at ASU for another G/D semester! I would have probably been able to form a whole team at the other school...now I really need people. Blah...please help me out people. At least with the basics, such as concept art, models, textures, and research. Maybe a couple other things.

Hmmm...is there something I am doing wrong here? I have been trying to form a team for a few months now and nadda! I give great details, plans, and expectations and I haven't gotten anywhere. I know I never listed a site, but that is because I don't have one and won't until I know this will go somewhere, which would be once I got a basic team. Everyone keeps saying that I should join an existing mod team but the problem there is that I have noting really to offer them, I can't model, draw, program, or animate. Plus I really don't NEED to because I am not doing this to become a 3d artist or a programmer but a game designer, I need to show my creativity in the standpoint of the actual design and concept of the storyline, and also in leadership. I am able to do one thing other than story and that is music, I have resources to make original scores and I plan to.

I'm sorry for the rant but I am extremely serious about this mod and help would be very nice. I am primarily hoping that someone could give me a few pointers in the way of getting a team.

thanks,
Brad

I'm sorry but that stuff does not help me. Plus it really has no relation to my last post, though I do appretiate the input I want to make some things clear.

1. I picked the countries for specific reasons. China: becasue they ARE a communist state that trades with America, and that is not normal, plus there has been no conflict between the U.S. China in the sense of warfare. Canada, Mexico and Cuba: because they share borders with the U.S. which adds to the reasoning of America being screwed. To use Russia, Korea, Iraq, and Afganistan would be cliche.

2. Yes Englands help was massacred because they were intercepted on the way and could not reach the soil. They only reached the Chinese outer defenses. I mean no insult to England, but I am still writing a campaign and England could end up helping later on in the game, but it still stands that their original attempt was unsuccesful.

Now could someone please helpme with my last reply.
