I have been conjuring up a great idea for a Massivley Multiplayer Online Game. Yet how I plan to make it come to life im not sure, if anyone knows what engine would be possible to make a mmpolg or if I would have to create my own please tell me. Here is the idea, Concept, This game would be set in the day of the pirates! The game would focus mainly on easy gameplay and partying up in groups to go on treasure hunts. The world would have to be massive with thousands of island(I know this would be a pain in the ass to pull off!) and the point of the game is to keep gathering treasure, getting better at using weapons and owning the nicest ship money can buy (There are many other points to the game those are just the main ones!) Charactors, Being as I cant really think of any classes or races other than human the would fit in this time period, so not having class or race to deal with your char. can be 10x more customizable than in most mmolg's. However a char. strength, charisma, dex, ect would be decided by a test at the begining of the game(everyone has the same amount of points to use but how the answer questions on the test will decide how to distrubute the points for ex. If a question said If you came face to face with a pirate how would you react, and you chose attack him that would give you more points in the strength area. Fighting and enemies, The enemy in this game would, of course consist of mostly pirates with the exeptional drunk at the pub . You fight on both land and water, fighting on water has two modes in the ship and boarding another ship/ Your ship being boarded. When fighting while in the ship you and your party will man the guns and steering wheel ( The owner of the ship is the only one that can steer unless giving permission to another party member) Steering the ship is quite easy, on the other hand manning a gun is quite hard work, You have sevral different types of ammunition when shooting. How fast you reload will all depend on how fast you click your mouse(or something accelerating like that) when aiming the gun many things must be taken into account like winds and how far away the opposing ship is from yours! Equipment and ships, Clothing would be about the same as in most mmo's they have so much armor rating ect. however carrying items would all depend on the clothing you wear. If you had a belt that can hold 1 gun and one sword then that all you could carry unless those items are put in storage. How many reg. items you can carry are also based on clothing. There will be of course many many many many different types of guns and swords to buy and find and how well you use each sword all depends on the skill level you have with that weapon, if you are a low level trying to use a high level sword you will suck badly with it. This isnt all of my concept for this game I still have many different ideas such as becoming a merchant and other things but I would first like to research more on the era in which the game is based in. Sounds like Sid Meier's "Pirates" game that is going to be an MMORPG and being released quite soon. More information here: Ugo.com Sounds cool, but if you like pirate games, check this out, and you might just decide to play this instead of taking time to make a mod about it. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
