still costs though costs to sign up (there is a free account , but you nee dto upgrade for that certain download)

No, GTA was released for free, it seems the download has been removed from rockstar's site.

i seem to remember one of the gta forum sites had a link to it. if i find it ill tell you.

maybe look on p2p or ask for someoe that has it, its less than 200mb.

If you ever bought PC PowerPlay, it had, among other free games, GTA on its DVD. It also has had other games like C&C and Red Alert.
