Whats the directory for installing a mod on Steam? I've tried C:/blahblahblah/SteamApps, but it won't work :/ The mod I'm trying to install is The Specialists v2.0 (and then upgrade it to 2.1) but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to show up on Steam. Any help is appreciated, thanks. |

C:/STEAMFOLDER/USERNAME/SteamApps/Half-Life/ just drop the folder in there... |

I've done that, but for some reason, I don't get the username part of the directory :/ Just C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps. I install it to that directory, but no luck :/ |

Yeah, I don't get C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\my@email.com\halfl-life\ I get C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\ Any ideas? |

Well...I just installed it to the folder, and to no avail. It launches a batch file on the desktop, double click it, no luck. Its not under 3rd party games, either. I don't know why I suddenly got my email address there, either. It wasn't there before. Well, maybe this might be the problem. I downloaded the Steam CS 1.6 cache, not the full thing. Could that be an issue? Edited by: santheb |

It seems that youre steam isn't set up right. Have logged on and played any games on it? If you have, you should get C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Whateveremailisyours@whatever.com\half-life You have to have subscribed to hl in steam. |

Yeah, I just played CS for about 5 minutes and got the directory. Now if I could only install the specialist :/ I am subscribed and everything. |

you have to open up half-life at least once |

I bought CS:CZ, not HL. |

HL should come with it buddy. If you're subscribed to all the games, you are subscribed to hl. |

you have to have started half-life at least once, or the half life stuff will not be in here: x:\program files\steam\steamapps\youremail\half-life\ Open Half-Life, let it update. Close it and then install the mod. It will work. |

I told you. Open up half-life with steam!!! Do as I say and it will work. Open it up like you are going to play it. Let it update. And you will then be able to install! |

I'm being completely serious, under the games menu, I do not see Half Life. Maybe I don't have it registered, I don't know, but I know I bought CS:CZ. I don't have my CD key, though, because we're moving and its all in boxes :/ |

Maybe I can get it to work now, I remembered my friends username/password, going to try it now with his. He had original HL with all the games and junk. |

Try opening Play Games menu and browse games. However, it should show up, because every game shows up, it should just be unlit(greenish text and greenish icon) |

Somebody messed with your installation then. |

Nope, it's possible to register a username, not email now. |

Really? That's weird, but I still don't see why that would keep him from having half-life, which he claims apparently doesn't show up. |

Mine shows up as username too, not e-mail. --
