im thinking of starting a mod team. who would be willing to join?
all i can say now is that it will be a gory scary zombie based game.
when i say gory i mean like gears of war, and its going to be a mix
gameplay of cod zombies and left 4 dead.
we will be using udk as the engine.
this will be a serious group and this is not a paid position.
thank you

If you seriously want a team, let me give you a few tips:
First, for god sake, use proper pronunciation. I'm, not im. Simple things like that make you look much more professional and will increase your chances of possibly getting you a team together.

Second: Have SOMETHING to show. A basic story, a few models, anything. People just Won't sign up to a team with nothing.

Third: Tell people what YOU can do. From my experience, a leader has to do something, He/She can't just tell people what to do, at least at the start. Perhaps later, when you have more team members and more demand for a leader figure, to unite and direct the team, then you can settle down into a less of a creation role and more of a PR and Leader role.

Just some tips, take them or leave them. In response to your thread, Do as I advise and create a basic story/Have a few ideas, And I'll be willing to do what I can. I Model, but have skills in Texturing, Story writing and other areas. PM me.

I'd like to join, but I'm not a programmer. I do, however, have a lot of cool ideas about all the games I like, so I'd really like to give my suggestions, concepts, sketches, even my knowledge of certain areas (firearms, history, etc.) if you'd be willing to consider it. :)
PM me whenever you want...

I have no experience whatsoever, but I'm looking to join a team to learn. I'm down to do some simple little stuff and take busy work off your hands. I'm a pretty quick learner so I imagine I can be pretty helpful at taking care of smaller things.

Anyways, I agree with all of this. Me and my friend are making a HL2 mod and we came to the conclusion of
"Before we ask people to help, we need stuff to show off. So that's why we make a demo."
Very few people who know what they're doing would be willing to help you without you showing off some WIP's, Concept art, hell even a basic story outline is better then nothing.

Can't agree more, if you're making a mod you should not start it with the idea of "Hey, I wanna make en epic shooter mod for hl2!" but you should start with concrete plans and make goals that are reachable, sometimes it's best to wait with making a game until you have enough sketches, concept art, storyline, etc...

Then, when the concrete plan is made, you can try to find a team and explain them in detail what you want, you can't be like "Uhh... Idk" but you have to know what you are doing.

When you got a team, you can start making goals, when your goals are set... Then you can start the mod making.

Please for everyone who reads this, starting a mod is not a "1,2,3 job", it requires good and careful planning and some thought before you can create one.

Well, I'm glad to hear that! :) Does anyone have some sketches or plans about the mod you want to create?
