Greetings, everybody.
I have a concept idea for a PC game I wish to make for upcoming National Software Contest and it's my graduate project for Software Development in University. It's my 1st side-project and 2nd game in design.
At first I was going to make just for NSC/Graduate then abandon it, but now I think it's good change of pace and improve my coding while experiment something for my primary game, so I want to make it as full game.
But I happen to choose some game genre that might not work well together or so, which is why I want some thought for yours.

Start with the core game play. It's Action-RPG with Roguelite and Multiplayer as co-op competitive.
Gameplay Aspect.

  • Roguelike Session based game, 20-60 minute each, based on difficulty.
  • Gameplay like Diablo/Torchlight/Darkspore (2D isometric?) but you can move freely with any direction while turning into another (full control), like keyboard and mouse aim plus camera control. Unlike those game where it's click to attack, you have to aim in both Melee, Ranged and Ability.
  • Weight based Inventory and Level.
  • Hack & Slash Melee oriented, Ranged is there as well (based on equipment). Mostly focus on abilities usage.
  • Wide selection of ability and perks, some limit by class. Player have to choose both some of it to be used in that session.
  • Time-based for each zone, although time is for end-game score and some punishment.
  • Fight though zone to find mini-boss at the end of zone, and final zone will have big boss.

Roguelike Aspect.

  • Randomly combine predefined zone into one world. (It should make each game session different.)
  • Cross-session storage and unlockable. Each session reward player with ability to move current item into storage for next session and some point for unlockabl stuff. (can be disable as a challenge?)
  • Randomly placed item, shop, and spawn enemy.
  • No mid-game session save. Game end on party wiped or beat final boss.

Multiplayer Aspect.

  • Drop-in/out probably up to 5-6 players.
  • Co-op based with incapacitate system, with ability to self-revive for limited amount. Dead player will resurrect upon changing zone. Joined player during timer is out will also
  • Shared experience, even newly joined mid-game.

So, these my approximately gameplay, do you think it work?I already working on basic combat though.
Any opinion or need some explanation are welcome.
Thank you your time.
