I'm seriously thinking about going out and getting Boards of Canada's "Geogaddi" and I was wondering about it. Any reviews, warnings, cautionary statements? I've heard that they have allusions to Satanism, Occults, Hypnotism, and Brainwashing. Any of this true, and also, I've heard that they're music is honestly freaky. Any of this true? This is an honest-to-God question, and I'd like to have it answered. |

I love Geogaddi. It has many of those mysterious 1-2 minutes tracks like A is to B as B is to C with hidden meanings (reverse played/pitched voices etc.). My two favourites from the album are Music is Math and 1969 - the one with relations to David Koresh (Waco sect). Yes their music is kind of freaky.. in a little crazy way. Definitely not music to listen, ie, "when doing homework", it's rather just to listen in headphones with complete concentration. For a newb to BoC music, Music Has The Right To Children is better imo. If you like idm, try Autechre too. They're awesome. BoC has some allusions to that stuff you mentioned but they do it for fun, like the last Magic Window completely-silent track which makes the whole album 66 minutes and 6 seconds long. They're no satanist or something. BUY IT! |

Woah thats just silleh.... I am going to have to check them out... and I thought Neurosis was scary to listen to with their sounds of people dying and weird studio editing effects. --

Neato. I'll probably hit Borders or something after I get some more capital. |
