How to mod? Thread

So I'm planning on modding Mount and blade:warband, but also modding other games. I wanna first of all know what kind of coding or programming it requires(if any). Second, where can I learn that coding or programming. Right now, I'm learning Python at codeacademy.com, but I'm afraid that it won't help me in modding, and that it's a waste of time.

Well, you could go to Google/Bing/DogPile/Yahoo/DuckDuckGo/Whatever-you-use and search "How to mod Mount & Blade : Warband" or "How to mod Half-Life 2" or "How to mod Quake 3 Arena" or "How to mod DOOM" and watch various videos and read various articles and download some level editors as well as graphics editors, hope this helps!
