hmm right, the map i was working on has gone tits up, but i dont know why, let me explain, when i test it now, it takes it time to load then it crashes, well with xp it says send error to MS, or dont, and i click dont send error, and the map actually starts anyways BUT when it does start, the place is really bright and has no lighting effects and IT lags like a bitch, whole map is bright with lag :/ i dont get it, before i made some chaning like a few small carvings what not, it ran fine, no lagg lighting effects n everything, now its just buggerd... help :/ When i mean lagg, i mean all choppy, not LAG -- Nothing. |

Well...i'm afraid my knowledge is limited to Unreal as well, but did you create a back-up of your older files (std. practice...if you haven't be sure you do), you'd be able to take the old version from before you made a certain adjustment. Otherwise...dump XP and get 2000. |

WOAH! Firstly I take it you are using Zoners to compile? If not, then are you using worldcraft? If you are you should see a console box with loads of text in it. What it sounds like is you're having a problem with vis, so what I need you to do: Look through all the text you get when you compile. If you see something saying either: then get back to me. If not, i have no idea. |

hmm yes, im using valve hammer, i do get leaks. i think i havent checked the map in a while, now it jst crashes if i try to load it and ive checked for leaks , i even put a damn box round the whole map! -- Nothing. |

I had two maps like that. My problem on both of them was having some of my tf_goal and multi_manager entities outside the walls of my map. Now, after taking 3 seconds to move some 3 entities, and me kicking myself in the butt, I've got two maps that are gonna be ready for beta testing soon You should also try adding, if you haven't already, -particles 10000 to the end of the exec game command line in expert compile mode. Then, run the map and, after you spawn, type in 'pointfile' into the console. Check your map for any black and white dot trails, if you can't see 'em, type 'noclip' in console and scan the outside of your map. My problem now is my maps won't compile with lighting effects, but it will generate a BSP file. I've got them all made up properly AND have the lights.rad files all switched up. But, anywayz, I think you prob should be fixed if you folow the above intructions. |

I done that thing with the point files, everytime a sort a section MORE APPEAR Ive just given up on the map now -- Nothing. |

Have you checked the Counter-Map site? They still have active people on the forums. The site is, of course, CS specific, but you can get the basics (and some fairly advanced stuff, too) of mapping and worldcraft/hammer there. Check the forums, specifically the Help forum, and be sure to search first, else you'll get bitched at for asking the same question for the zillionth time. |
