Have mods installed but can't figure out how to play Thread

I've installed BF 1942 and several mods. I used to be able to start BF and choose my mods from the main menu, but the tab for mods, titled CUSTOM GAME, has not shown up. I played these mods fine on my old laptop (Win7) but my new one (Win8) is about to go out the window because of this. Someone please help! This ridiculously frustrating! All I want to do is play these mods!
