First off, I'd like to say thanks to moddb for helping me to get a start on my modding hobby approximately one year ago.

I've noticed that there have been a lot of Halo Trial "mod downloaders" here, simply because Halo Trial modding is the most widespread form of Halo modding. I have seen hardly any PC modding though...

There are literally hundreds of forums devoted to Halo PC out there, and with mods to which there is no comparison with Halo Trial.
As Bungie and the Halo modding community neither condone nor support Trial modding, it is discouraged- I too remain neutral, yet more in favor for the full version (I support Halo modding as a whole).

However, the "Trial" matter is seriously unbalanced. Since discouraging Halo Trial mods only breeds more mods, which are scattered all over the web, we need to counter-act this by promoting Halo PC, and especially my favorite, Halo CE.

I think moddb could really benefit from advertising to and inviting many of the long-term modders from places like Halomaps, halomods, and others. Though forums are a good place to have mods, many of the mods advertisements/posts on websites such as the ones listed above could really benefit from posting their mods here. I encourage moddb to try and reach more of the Halo modding community so that people will be more encouraged to buy Halo and knock-off this Halo Trial frenzy.

With so many Halo PC communities that already exist, most new Halo gamers will not search around for a community as much as the Halo Trial'ers will. I think that advertising Halo PC will help make the PC/Trial population ratio more favorable.

Personally I dont think you can force people into modding a certain version/game/engine, people have all sorts of reasons for choosing to do what they do.

Halo trial is free which has got to be a major reason people try and mod it. I'd imagine its also simpler to mod because theres far less content involved. Untill those and any number of other issues are resolved I dont think you'll see much of an increase in Halo PC modding.

Well the thing is, most Trial modders are temporary; some PC'ers are temporary, but most of them love the game enough to keep at it. Trialers' most common motivation is fame, usually with PC'ers (with so much competition and the lack of opportunity to create something completely new) will usually do it because of their obsession for (or just admiration of) Halo PC and the Halo Universe.
