Genre Issue Thread

Is there a description of the different genre's somewhere? My game STRACO (https://www.indiedb.com/games/straco) isn't quite Tower Defense, and isn't quite RTS or an Arcade game. But I can't seem to figure out what some of the other genre's mean. Real Time Shooter sounds good, but I've never heard of that before, and google doesn't seem to know what it is either... Or perhaps I'm thinking about it too much?

From the trailer of your game, I can't tell where the tower defense element from the trailer but judging from the fact that you mostly shoot enemies, the proper genre is action shooter

Same here, every shooter game I know are real time so not sure how non-real time shooter would be

That makes a TON of sense. Strange how you can't see what is right in front of your nose sometimes, or maybe it's just me. I think I'll change it to Action Shooter, plus I'll have to change the summary to something else. Perhaps, action shooter with tower defense elements... I'll have to think about it.

HA! Non-real time shooter! Maybe turn based shooter could be a new category? I'm thinking something like the VATS system from Fallout 3.

Errr... Action Shooter isn't a category, it seems like it should be though. Action Arcade doesn't seem right either. I just changed it to "Real Time Shooter" Kinda sounds like Action Shooter, right?

I also need to take twin-stick out of the description since you can play with the mouse and keyboard.
