Whatever it is, that's one durn fine looking fridge Know what I've always wondered? If Sam Fisher is supposed to be a super stealth guy who can hide in the shadows and nobody can see him, then WHY does he wear those goggles that practically glow?! They must give him away alot...you'd think that new tech night vision goggles wouldn't glow on the outside. Which leads me to another thing I was thinking about a month ago while playing Unreal II. Unreal II is supposed to be a new-tech game too, then how come the radios are still noisy and crackly and staticky? You'd think that with all that hi-tech equipment they have, there'd be radios with clear, crisp 16+ bit 44100hz sound. - Edited By SeienAbunae On Tue 18th, Mar 2003 @ 11:31:47am --

His googles are UV or something, I read about it somewhere; they arent visible to the eye, but they give the game a way to see him in the shadows so they made it visible. -- Why wont it save me? |

Take a front-view look at Sam Fisher. They glow, bright. Bright green. Visible. --

Why would he wear something thats visable to the enemy? I've never seen night vision goggles that glow. And I think I could see him moving around because I would be playing as him. |

Are you both complete idiots? Its so you can see him ingame otherwise you'd be clueless where he is. As stated in real life they exist and theyre not visible to the human eye. -- Why wont it save me? |

its true, but on mine, its on the inside of the nightvision strap and my headset, so only my team can hear it, no more use for walkie-talkies |

I do believe what he uses to see is Infrared Technology, which is not within the visiable spectrum of light, hence people can't see it. Its pretty common place now, used on video cameras for recording during the night (ala Big Brother). Easily defined by the greyish tone of all the pictures (since its not part of the visible light spectrum, we don't get the luxury of colour). I'm guessing it works by emitting Infrared beams outwards and then seeing what is reflected back (much like shining a torch on something and seeing what is reflected back, but without the visible light). Therefore the glow u see on the outside of the goggles should not techincally be visible, more likely as others have said just a way to see his head. This is just a guess though, but sounds logical enough. In theory UV light will also work since it is also invisible to the naked eye, however I think it maybe slightly more hazardous then Infrared. --
