I have finally gone all in with UDK and game design. I've played around with various engines in the past, but having become proficient with 3D modeling programs and a few programming languages such as Java, Python, C++ and VB, I felt that it was time to make the game I've been wanting to make: Sins of the Father, or SotF.

The premise is this: you play as an alcoholic father and husband, who wakes up in a vast forest one day, hidden among a group of mountains. With no recollection of how he, or rather, you, the player, as to how you ended up there, the main goal is to simply explore, and ultimately figure out how and why you have arrived in this mysterious forest. It will be a first-person exploration game in the vein of games such as Myst, in which everything you need is available, but it is up to you to figure out how to piece everything together. I'm still figuring a lot of it all out, so that's all I have for now, I'll update this thread as I progress through the development cycle. I am a student, however, so I cannot say how long this may take, but I can say that I will give this my best effort.

Below is the basic terrain and lighting setup, I know the bloom is sort of hard on the eyes, but keep in mind that the terrain is entirely open right now, so it won't be nearly as bad with various foliage spread throughout the map.

The picture doesn't do the actual in-engine view any justice lol.
