Hey Everyone,

My name is Chase Bethea. I am a video game Composer/Sound Designer. I am writing to reach to fresh ears for my compositions and to gain some feedback. I am hoping the community will be open to take the time to listen to some of my best work. I am very humbled by your consideration and I greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Here is some of my recent work:

Deity Quest: (https://www.indiedb.com/games/deity-quest)

These are the themes I composed for the upcoming game Deity Quest (PC, Linux, Mac and Android). Deity Quest is a light-hearted RPG where you play as an Overgod of Aberos to gain your place in the kingdom. Duel other Gods for their followers and convert other followers to be on your side for the ultimate ruling.

Eve of Ebon: (http://eveofebon.weebly.com/game.html)

These themes are from the upcoming game Eve of Ebon; You can play any character form a unique vampire clan within the last vampire legion stronghold of Niven. Their character traits focus onslaught and dark elements, reacting differently, in each setting and as you evolve you can customize these traits to embrace your vampire or human lineage.

Cubic Climber: (https://www.indiedb.com/games/cubic-climber)

I composed the Soundtrack for Cubic Climber. I really pushed my composition skills and styles to the limit on this. This is a simple game based on the players reflexes and ability. You play as a climber who is trying to climb a mountain using various holds. You can try to beat best times of other people and improve your rank by earning points.

I listened to some of the tracks from Diety quest. Electronic and retro aren't my thing so I was unmoved, but it all sounded alright. Maybe a little rough and gratey (although I lack the vocabulary to adequately explain what I mean).

One thing I would say, though, is that the pieces didn't seem to be particularly well suited to the environments. The bog had a chilled-out, sunset-evening sort of feel about it; while Tak's Proposal (the domain of an evil God) felt a bit light-hearted and whimsical. They might work better in the context of the game, though (and I do note that the game has a very bright, simple colour palette).

Of course, that's one of the pitfalls of game music and soundtracks: they're almost impossible to rate taken out-of-context like this. Sometimes they can work as stand-alone pieces, but that's all a matter of taste. Maybe you should try uploading a gameplay clip to Youtube and laying the sound on top?

On a more general note, I'd suggest that you've asked a lot of the community here by creating a forum post with so many songs. It's one thing to invite people to look at a new track or two - but throwing everything into one massive post is likely to put people off. It would normally put me off - but I'm in a productive mood and wanted to stop by and explain my thoughts. When promoting yourself or asking for help, assume that people have no time, no patience, and a dozen other things to do. Give them a concise post with a couple of links and you're more likely to get a response :)
