Man, I never get tired of playing these games. They came out in 1997 and 1998, using 640x480 in 256 colours... and dang it's gotta be the prettiest 8-bit colour game I've ever seen! Not only that, they're probably my favourite RPGs of all time too. I just started playing Fallout 2 for the third time. The first time I took my time and had fun killing things and solving quests (I think I accidentally wiped out a city too), finally beating the game after a week or two. After I beat the game I got up to about level 25 (the highest) by doing the cheapest thing... going back and forth to/from the Enclave, each time earning 10,000 XP just for the act of doing so! The second time, I beat the game in one day, seriously! I was home sick from school and there's a walkthrough telling you how to beat the game in a day. You don't even have to go to half the cities... you basically whip right from Arroyo (first town) to NCR or something, still using your bare hands as weapons, and surprisingly even though you don't spend time at all to level up, you're around level 9 by the time you get to waste Frankie! This third time (this time), I'm using a walkthrough again and making sure I solve all the quests I can. I'm making sure to take my time and check out really what makes this game so great. It's absolutely wonderful, so much that after I beat it I think I'm going to reinstall Fallout 1. I think I enjoyed this one even more, as long as there isn't a time limit on the entire game. The Master Mutant end-boss is I swear, the BEST boss ever made. --

fallout 2 was great i liked the whole select the limb thing -- Grammar is my worst enemy along with flying chairs.

Fallout 2 and Fallout 1 are essentially the same engine with the same features. Fallout 2 simply has different 'world', and more monsters, weapons and armour (but no wakizashi this time). The new Fallout game looks incredibly stupid. I wouldn't play it, ever. Though I'd like to check out Fallout Tactics someday... --

Whoa! That could be interesting... though the original turn-based combat was one of the things that set Fallout 1/2 apart and made them good. I'm curious how real-time combat would work with a Fallout game! Tell me more of the features Oh, and congrats on the 5000 post --

oh crap didnt realize 5000... oops oh wells well heres the info from the cd case +choose either continuous turn-based (real time) or turn-based tactical combat in the award winning fallout universe. i love this game though, you have yourself, the main character and you get to control 5 other people at a time... i'll take some screen shoots of my game and post them -- Sachmo The Wang™ and me™ are property of modDB© Dead Aim Clear Score: 41mins 16secs beat that biaotch!! |
