Hey all…

I’m beginning work on a mod for Call of Duty Called EQUiNOX. Aside from changing the setting from WWII to a gritty Sci-Fi setting, the underlying concept is to expand upon already existing elements of CoD, adding mission types, weapons, maps, drivable vehicles, etc., plus adding an all-new feature to the HUD, the objective list and Nav-Point system. So now, when people say “Squad attack left flank!” It’ll show up on a translucent drop-down window as a command. Obviously, we need someone proficient in Mod languages, or just a general technical lead, plus of course the usual: A mapper, modeler/animator, and a texture artist. I myself do PR, Graphic Design and Conceptual art. It is IMPERATIVE that we get a good tech lead, as adding the desired features is a daunting task indeed.

Setting: 2666 Earth has run out of natural resources and the distant inhabitable world of Equinox is discovered to have massive quantities of a clean-burning, energy efficient mineral deep underground. The powers on earth could just share the wealth… but, as humans are wont to do, nobody can resolve the issue and rationing of the energy source. So, military troops are deployed to Equinox to be the first to stake out as much mining area as possible for their Controlling space powers… the United States, ESC (European Space Confederacy), Russia, and Japan. The question is… how much more can humanity afford to lose?

Play-Style: The game will feature 6 maps in the original version, each featuring two different armies fighting one another. This way each army will face off against each other once. Also, each map will be configured in three different ways for the three separate mission types.

Maps: I don’t know most of the specifics yet, but there a few of the maps will be: Underground compound, Mining Canyon, Space Station and a Forest (I have some interesting sketches for this one.)

Weapons: Each army will have four available weapons to choose from. Still working on this.

Vehicles: Once again, still working, but there will be a land-transport, flyer, motorcycle, buggy, and mobile-point gun-platform.

Visually, it might be a great game if done right. But there isn't much new stuff added to the game-play except the drop down command window thing. I think people are just fed up with straight up team deathmatch/capture the flag/whatever type games. At least that's my take on it. Cause like I said, visually you can do a lot with this game, but I don't know if the game-play won't be more of just the same old, and get boring quick. Maybe if you add some other interesting twist to the game-play, more people may find it interesting. Just my opinion though, I could be wrong.
